visual Ⓐctivist and academic based in Newark, New Jersey. As a third-generation multiracial American, intersectional pedagogy is inherent in Bellaran’s creative practice. Founding organizer of the global grassroots art movement, Nasty Women Exhibition, and co-creator of the international artist-run collective, Toppled Monuments Archive; for decades Bellaran has contributed to various local community projects and public art interactions, notably providing integral support to Audible's Newark Artist Collaboration throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
The first Latinx woman director of both East Carolina University’s School of Art and Design Galleries, and the MA Curatorial Practice program, at School of Visual Arts in New York; Bellaran holds an MFA in Curatorial Studies from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dublin, Ireland, and a BFA from Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts.
In 2023, Bellaran was formally identified as an 'Artist Disruptor' by The Center for Cultural Power and Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and currently serves as a member of their New Jersey Futures cohort.
